The display itself has a curved panel. The backlight is not perfect. We did see some faint shadows on the top and bottom edges of the panel, and the backlight in these areas was not very uniform. The panel also has some slight difficulties with shiny objects in a dark environment (such as light at the end of a tunnel or white text on a black background). In these cases, the backlight will brighten too much, causing unnecessary halos in areas that should be dark.
HDR produced a wider color gamut, and when we tested it, the CHG70 produced 154.1% of the sRGB color gamut. In comparison, the impressive performance of Alienware AW3418DW is 127.2%, while that of LG 34UC89G is 126%. In HDR videos, the superior brightness and color gamut let you easily see enhancements on monitors limited to the basic dynamic range. The waves are bright greenish blue. Color is also accurate. When we use the Klein K-10A colorimeter to test the review unit, the CHG70’s color accuracy score is 0.09 (close to zero is better), which is one of the best results we’ve seen. Despite providing impressive accuracy, Alienware AW3410DW (0.2) and LG 34UC89G (1.08) performed poorly. This is mainly because Samsung performed the color calibration at the factory before shipping the monitor to the retailer. Other monitors may have similar precision, but must be calibrated after purchase.

The power button is located on the lower bezel on the right. The MB16ACE was tested at 219 nits, which is shorter than its 250-nit rating, but this is one of the best ratings we’ve seen on mobile displays, which rarely exceed 200 nits.
