A few days ago, ASUS just announced the presence of it’s newest laptop, the ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T, this laptop is included in the sub-brand “ProArt” is a laptop intended for content creators. Usually, consumers who buy this ProArt product mean that they already know how to use the laptop to be able to create content so that they can make money, so they can support their creative work in the future.

This ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T laptop will clearly be suitable for use by designers, architects, animators, and also programmers. Of course, that does not mean that normal users should not use this laptop, as long as the performance of the laptop can be used to support their work. But how fast is the ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T that has been officially unveiled?

Design and Specifications

ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T has a kitchen runway in the form of an Intel Xeon E-2276M processor (Coffee Lake, 14 nm, 6C / 12T, TDP 45W), with 64 GB of DDR4-2600 RAM (4x 16 GB) which is already Dual Channel and has RAM ECC (Error-Correcting Code) where this code is used to prevent data errors in memory that can lead to fatal / crash on the system. Internal storage uses a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD, with a second M.2 slot available to add storage if needed.

The GPU of this laptop uses a Quadro RTX 5000 with 16 GB VRAM which has the same number of CUDA Cores as the GeForce RTX 2080 Super. Massive VRAM itself is suitable for content creator needs such as for 3D animation with high textures, and so on. While the Integrated GPU it has is UHD Graphics 630. For audio, the ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T laptop uses 2 speakers that are Harman / Kardon certified, connectivity uses Intel Wi-Fi AX200 with Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6 support, and has a fingerprint. scanner as a security.

The main screen of the ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T has a large 17 ″ resolution 1920 x 1200 pixels with a 16:10 aspect ratio, IPS panel, 97% DCI-P3 color gamut, Delta E <1.5, and has Pantone Validated which if needed, color calibration can be done from the ASUS ProArt Creator Hub application. For Color Profile, it can be adjusted through the MyASUS application. The screen surface itself is Anti Glare with the NanoEdge Display which has a thin frame on the four sides of the main screen.

ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T has a second screen called Screenpad 2.0, where the second screen has a large 5.65 ″ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels Super IPS panel and supports touchscreen. The function of this second screen is also quite unique like an additional screen found on a laptop in general, where besides being able to be used for handwriting and drawing input, Screenpad 2.0 can be used as a touchpad, virtual number, and so on.

The main body of the ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T has a Clamshell form factor with sturdy Magnesium Alloy material. This laptop has a choice of Star Gray color with Rose Gold colored lines, dimensions 38.2 x 26.5 x 3.19 cm like the dimensions for a laptop measuring 15.6 “, and weighs 2.9 kg. The keyboard has a full-size layout with physical numpad, and has a white backlit with three adjustable brightness levels.

The connector on the left side consists of DC In, HDMI, 2x USB 3.1 Gen 2, audio combo jack, and SD Card reader. While on the right side consists of 2x Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 Gen 2, Ethernet, and Kensington Lock.

Performance Test Results

To test the performance of the ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T, of course we need a benchmark set that we generally use to measure the score of a laptop. The benchmark set we use is used to measure consistency in performance, GPU performance, storage speed, and its ability to render video.

Cinebench R15 (Performance Consistency)

This benchmark is used to measure the performance of a laptop, as well as see the consistency of its performance.

Blender 2.80 – BMW 27 Scene

Blender is used to see laptop performance when rendering video. For this test, the video we used was BWM 27 Scene.

Adobe Premiere Pro CC

The next test for content creator needs, is to render videos using the Adobe Premiere Pro CC application, with a 2 minute 7 second video that undergoes a Color Correction and Multi Layer editing process. There are two types of video rendering scenarios in this test, namely 4K video rendering scenarios and FullHD video rendering scenarios.

SPECviewperf Composite Score

SPECviewperf is a benchmark that we use to measure frame rate or FPS, where the advantages of Quadro RTX will be seen through this benchmark. This is because Quadro RTX has more capabilities for several content creation applications that can take advantage of the optimization it offers.

CrystalDisk Mark

This benchmark is a test to measure the speed of storage used by a laptop. In this case, the ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T uses a M.2 1 TB NVMe PCIe SSD.

Gaming Tests

Although the ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T laptop is usually designed to increase productivity, especially for creative industry players, it is not impossible to use a laptop as an entertainment tool or play games.

  • Dota 2 (1920 x 1200 px, Fastest, 100% Render): 90 – 170 fps
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider (1920 x 1200 px, DX12, High, RTX High, DLSS On): 40 – 60 fps

ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T has a battery capacity of 95 Wh, with the hope that this large capacity can provide laptop performance that is more durable to use. In battery testing, we purposely disabled Screenpad 2.0.

In the 1080p quality video playback test, the laptop was able to last for 11 hours 43 minutes. While the Web Browsing test using Chrome, the laptop can last up to 9 hours 31 minutes.

For testing the charging speed, the laptop takes 2 hours 13 minutes. We consider this result to be fairly fast for the large battery it carries. As an additional feature to extend battery life, ASUS provides the Battery Health Charging feature available on the MyASUS application.

Cooling System and Working Temperature

The ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T has a large heatsink / heatspreader block system for CPU, GPU, VRM, and VRAM. The system itself consists of 4 copper heatpipes with 2 DC 12 V fans with a rotation of up to 6,000 rpm. To dissipate hot air, directed to the back of the laptop.

To measure the working temperature of the laptop, we used Cinebench R15, which was looped 20 times for the CPU, and Blender 2.0 for the CPU + GPU working temperature.

The CPU working temperature with Cinebench R15 has an average temperature of 73-77 degrees Celsius, with a maximum temperature of 94 degrees Celsius which only happened when the test took place.

While the CPU + GPU working temperature uses Blender 2.0, the average CPU temperature is 87-90 degrees Celsius while the GPU temperature averages 76-77 degrees Celsius.
Pricing and Availability

ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T only has one type of variant, with a selling price of IDR 88,000,000. Sales are equipped with a 3-year warranty, On-Site Service, and an Extra Warranty option.

This ASUS ProArt StudioBook Pro X W730G5T laptop is specially designed for those who know how to use it. Comes with Intel Xeon and NVIDIA Quadro RTX and ECC RAM to provide extra comfort for users, no need to bother because the laptop crashes while working, rendering 3D / animation / video, and so on. This very high price is considered reasonable, considering that what is offered by ASUS laptops is usually used to support the money-making needs of its users through creating content, especially in the creative industry.
